Dieng Plateau there are also many historical relics such as the Hindu Shiva temple building. Stone building that has been a hundred years old is a silent witness to the civilization that once flourished in the Dieng Plateau.
Long ago, the temples in Dieng had sunk and buried in a swamp. Until then in 1814 it was rediscovered by a British soldier who was on holiday.
But new efforts are draining swamps and cleansing of the temple began in 1956 and then resumed in 1864 by the Dutch government.
Until now, research on the temples in Dieng continued. Even so, not found records or written information concerning Dieng Temple history except for an inscription with the year number 808 AD, which is the oldest inscription written in ancient Javanese.
From the prasasi, Experts estimate that these temples were built by the kings of Sanjaya dynasty.
